We also lay emphasis on their drawing, counting, writing skills and playing in order to develop their numeracy, creativity and sensory perceptions for life.
Since the KG is the bedrock of formal education, our main vision is to prepare these young ones for basic education by equipping them with the needed skills to enable them fit into the main stream. We try as much as possible to do this in an open atmosphere of relaxation and play because we strongly believe that learning, for these young ones, is most effective when done in a context of effective recreation and enjoyment. Thus the saying “learning through play is a truth that tightly undergirds our vision.
Operationally, we prepare our future leaders by focusing on a number of areas. Our aim is to improve on their oral language development through activities like rhymes, songs and picture reading. We also lay emphasis on their drawing, counting, writing skills and playing in order to develop their numeracy, creativity and sensory perceptions for life. In doing this we use tools such as basic puzzles, storytelling and drama which are all invaluable in pre-school development. We believe these will help the children build a quality superstructure of education for classes one upwards.
We also organise a number of recreational activities for these young ones. Some of these have taken the form of nativity plays at Christmas time, sports programmes, field trips and graduation ceremonies. We have also incorporated in our morning assemblies exciting action songs, rhymes and picture descriptions. Our primary focus for introducing these activities is fun and language development and also improving healthy habits with skills to inspire and enlighten the children. This we believe will rejuvenate them for the day’s activities.. We have also introduced termly examination instead of once a year.
